The beast from the east meets London Salsa

Normally during the cold weather I suggest that you dance more to keep warm but the beast from the east has taken a bite or two from the salsa scene in London.  By which I mean that some of the regular classes and clubs have been forced to close for safety reasons, so we'd urge you to use the contact information on before making your pilgrimage to a dance floor.

Thus instead of a whirlwind weekend round up of what is on in town, I'm bringing out my favourite image of a dancing snowman and a link to how to make a healthy hot chocolate drink to keep you warm.

If you have hunkered down solo during this dreadful weather and had thoughts abouts finding that special partner, why not consider a visit to the UK Dating Fair 2018 on Sunday March 11th in central London?  There is even a 241 Global Dance Card link, so you purchase one ticket and can take a friend to this special event.

On Saturday, if the roads to Kingston are clear, you can find a 3-hour Cuban Salsa workshop that comes with a discount when you quote Londonsalsa.

On Great Portland Street, assuming the band and you can battle through the snow and wind, there will be a live Salsa Fusion featuring a lesson with Mina Queensalsa followed by Dorance Lorza and his Sexteto Cafe.

Heather and her Salsatricity team are supposed to be in Hatfield on Saturday with the lesson then party combination of salsa, bachata and kizomba. Please check with her before going.

For Sunday there is Bar Salsa in Soho, where Alastair and the Streetbeat team have a 5-hour intensive smooth styling workshop for intermediate plus dancers.

Over in Hoxton, Hughie is hosting a salsa experience that starts with a lesson from Janet of Lets Go Salsa.

And if we are lucky the live band night in Richmond on Sunday will survive storm Emma and the beast.

In the hope that the roads have cleared and the weather has changed, midweek salsa should get back to it's normal pace.

On Tuesday Pexava are starting a 4-week beginners salsa course in Northfields. And of course Todo Latino, housed at Bar Salsa Temple , will be offering a full on party night following lessons for all levels in bachata and salsa.

The only storm expected on Wednesday, will be on the dance floor in Hammersmith as the 6 levels of lessons in salsa are followed by a social.

Wednesday also see the start of Caramelo's 4-week courses in Salsa, Mambo, Cha Cha, Kizomba in Paddington

On Thursday Paddington concentrate on salsa, bachata and styling.

Hopefully a more complete newsletter next week, when we've said adieu to the snow but in the meantime, let's have a thought together for the many salsa schools across the nation that have been fully affected by the beast and wish all the dancers, who, undoubtably will be in desperate need of some latin rhythms and the companionship of fellow dancers, that social hit of freestyle dancing soon.

Stay warm,

Leigh and the London Salsa team
